Jade Odyssey 40

I'm going to walk the Jade Odyssey. I don't have a map yet... only the vague, scattered directions from that stranger's letter, and a feeling I can't quite shake since I left the mountain.

There's a word for it, I think, though I only recently learned it: Resfeber. The restless race of the traveller's heart before a journey begins, half fear, half fever, half joy, all tangled together into something that won't let you sit still.

Cedarwood and hinoki linger faintly on my coat from the bamboo groves, mixed with something warmer now... powdered, musky, like the mountain hasn't quite let go of me yet.

I'll write again once I've found the beginning of the path. Wherever you are, I hope you have your own mountain to climb, your own bottle to leave behind.

And if this resfeber ever finds you too, I hope you don't resist it. I didn't.
